#6 – Things get chippy as Jazz earn huge win over Minnesota – March 2

Karl-Anthony Towns, Jeff Teague and Jae Crowder were all ejected in a heated battle which saw Utah come out on top by a score of 116-108.

With both the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves grappling for playoff position at this point of the season, this early March bout was a heated battle that had all the feel of a playoff game. Emotions ran high all throughout the game beginning with Karl-Anthony Towns losing his cool and getting ejected in the first half after receiving a pair of technical fouls.

That was only the beginning, though. Later on, Jeff Teague pulled an absolute cheap shot on Ricky Rubio, sending him sprawling into the stands. Teague was thereafter ejected and both Jae Crowder and Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau received technical fouls. Crowder would later be ejected as well for picking up a second T.

Along with drama on the court, it was also an exhilarating basketball game. The Jazz closed the first half on a 20-6 run and staved off several Minnesota runs. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert led Utah with 26 points apiece and the Jazz were able to pull off a 116-108 win that was huge for their playoff chances at the time.

The Jazz would go on to finish fifth in the West whereas the Timberwolves finished eighth, but at the time, Minnesota was well above them in the standings. Thus, the upset aspect of the game as well as the clear disdain the two teams showed one another made this one of the more memorable bouts of the year.
