#1 – Donovan Mitchell’s 41-point outburst grounds the Pelicans – December 1

Donovan Mitchell went off for a career-high 41 points in an unforgettable game that saw the Utah Jazz come back and stun the New Orleans Pelicans 114-108.

It’s hard to put words to this incredible game that featured rookie Donovan Mitchell officially ascend into NBA stardom. The Utah Jazz trailed the Pelicans for most of the game, including a 16-point second half deficit. Although Mitchell had started out the game strong, overall things just weren’t going Utah’s way.

Between missed shots, struggles on defense and a well-rounded attack from the Pelicans, this game appeared to be out of reach.

Then the fourth quarter happened.

Mitchell entered the final period with 24 points, a solid figure in and of itself. But to close out the game he simply could not be stopped. He put up 17 points in the fourth to finish with an incredible career-high of 41 points. Not only did his efforts lead the Jazz to a shocking 114-108 comeback  win over the Pelicans, but they also earned him a higher career-high in points than a certain Jazzman that left Utah last summer. That little tidbit was of course a thrill for Jazz fans.

But the way Mitchell was able to simply take over the game was one of the most stunning moments of the season. His 41 points came on highly efficient marks of 13-of-25 shooting from the field and 6-of-12 from deep. The electricity that was in the building as he almost single-handedly carried the Jazz to victory was sensational.

Mitchell has established himself as the face of the Jazz for the foreseeable future and this particular game was the moment where he solidified that fact. Considering that 2017-18 will likely always be remembered by Jazz fans as the year of Donovan Mitchell, it’s only fitting that his career night top the list of most memorable games of the season.

There were certainly many other games I considered for this list – Ricky Rubio’s big game against San Antonio, the season opening comeback win over Denver and the thrashing of the Washington Wizards to name a few, but ultimately these 10 that I’ve listed here were the ones I felt deserving to make the cut.

But what do you think, Jazz fans? Do you agree with my list? Or is there a different order or different regular season games that you would have liked to see in the top 10? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter!
