Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles’ wife, Renae, is re-joining the netball world. Also — Jazz assistant Mike Wells is will be at BWB Asia 2018.
Renae Ingles isn’t your average girl. In addition to being the wife of Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles and a mother to twins, she’s a bad mama jama on the netball court. Seriously — she’s a two-time former Australian International Player of the Year and was a gold medalist at both the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 Netball World Cup.
Last year, she retired from the Adelaide Thunderbirds with 160 league caps to her credit. That’s an incredible run from a high-level athlete and, apparently, it’s not over just yet.
Per an announcement from the team, Ingles is set to return to the sport as a member of the Melbourne Vixens. Ingles, a Melbourne, Victoria native, previously played for the Vixens from 2008-11. She helped the team win its first ANZ title in 2009.
Said Ingles —
"“I’ve been so excited just to get home to Melbourne to be with my family and then the opportunity came up to come in and train with the Vixens which to me is just a dream come true.”"
Although she was initially added as an alternate, Ingles will be part of Melbourne’s team of 10 for this Sunday’s game against the Sydney-based Giants Netball. Ingles is expected to be with the team for the remainder of its 2018 campaign.
The Vixens currently sit at 3-1 on the season.
For his part, Renae’s Jazzman counterpart looks to be fully on-board with the big return —
