University of Utah alum turned LA Lakers star rookie Kyle Kuzma is giving some Utah Jazz shout-outs via Twitter.

Make no mistake about it — Kyle Kuzma is a Utah man. Even as the former Ute star is making good in the pro game as one of the NBA’s up-and-coming playmaking forwards with the Los Angeles Lakers, his ties to his school and Salt Lake City remain strong.

On Sunday, that love for the 801 extended to the Utah Jazz when Kuzma was responding to fans on Twitter.

When prompted to list his top five most underrated players in the league, Joe Ingles was among those name-checked by Kuzma —

For the record, that’s one Jazzman and four All-Stars. Clearly, Ingles’ play this season has made an impression on his peers, but I digress.

Slow-Mo’ Joe wasn’t the only Jazz alum to get shouted out by “The Kuz.” He also named Karl Malone and John Stockton as the best players at their respective positions never to win a championship —

If the people of Utah didn’t love him already, this would have sealed the deal.

Of course, this isn’t the first time he’s given props to the Jazz. Throughout the 2017-18 season, he’s been a very public supporter of Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell. He may be biased (the two are good friends), but Kuzma has even backed Mitchell as his pick for Rookie of the Year honors.

And he did so despite his own first-year success. Not to mention the fact that last year’s No. 2 overall pick, Lonzo Ball, is his Lakers teammate —

Respect, indeed.

Kuzma may not have reached the ranks of the elite while playing for the Utes, but he’s well on his way in the Association. In 77 games this season, he averaged 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and shot 37 percent from distance.

That said, his success clearly hasn’t caused him to forget his roots. Kuz continues to rep Utah despite the move to La-La Land.
