Rookie award for being an actual rookie
The Fesenko goes to… Donovan Mitchell.
A little over a year ago, Donovan Mitchell was playing college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals. Then, in June of 2017, the Utah Jazz pulled off a draft-night trade to acquire his services as the No. 13 pick in the NBA Draft.
What followed was his first year of pro basketball. According to Merriam-Webster, a first-year participant in a major professional sport is known as a rookie.
Congrats, Mr. Mitchell, on being an actual rookie in the NBA (and weaving an epic tale in the process).
