Utah Jazz: Mitt Romney’s trolling of Russell Westbrook was epic

Russell Westbrook did his best to get into the heads of the Utah Jazz, but his antics may have been trumped by some Mitt Romney trash talk.

Unquestionably, the Utah Jazz’s Game 4 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder was high drama. As noted by fellow J-Noter Tyler Thorpe, the moments, twists and turns came in multitudes. In a word, it was awesome.

However, none of those moments were as epic, as weird or as Utah as a jersey-clad Mitt Romney trolling Russell Westbrook from the second row.

Yep, that’s a real thing.

It happened when Westbrook was playing with three fouls late in the second quarter and Billy Donovan hadn’t taken him out of the game. Then, just before the Thunder coach could finally do so, his star player was whistled for an offensive foul with less than two minutes remaining in the half.

That call made it four no-nos on Westbrook; a fact that Romney felt compelled to remind him of.

Behold an epic trolling —

Romney did catch some heat for rocking what looked to be a Rodney Hood jersey. It wasn’t; apparently the senatorial candidate and former Governor of Massachusetts had a custom jersey done up for the affair —

Romney may not have had the night he expected at last week’s Utah Republican Convention, failing to win his party’s nomination in the race for Orrin Hatch’s seat in the Senate, but it was good times for he and the rest of Jazz Nation on Monday.

Westbrook, meanwhile, had a rough go of it.

First he was trolled (allegedly) by former OKC star Kevin Durant on Instagram, then there was the Romney encounter. His night ended with 7-of-18 shooting, five turnovers and a big, fat L.

I have a feeling Jazz fans aren’t shedding any tears for him, though.
