David Stockton gets another tour of duty with the Utah Jazz and the SLC Stars’ Taylor Braun is headed to Europe.

Utah Jazz legend John Stockton may have celebrated his 56th birthday on Monday (March 26), but his son, David, had a pretty good day himself. According to reports, the younger Stockton has received a second 10-day contract from his father’s former team.

Stockton is fresh off his official Jazz debut, which came on Sunday night in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors. The 26-year-old played three minutes during the game’s fourth quarter, scoring two points from the free throw line.

He was originally signed by the team on March 17.

The move is a no-brainer for the Jazz, who needed a third point guard to stand-in for Raul Neto. Neto has missed 35 games this season thanks to a litany of injuries. He’s currently sidelined with a fractured wrist.

Before signing on with Utah, Stockton was a member of the G-League’s Reno Bighorns. In 39 games with Reno this season, he averaged 16 points, five assists and three rebounds per game.

More recently, he suited up for Team USA during FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

Coincidentally, another player with Jazz ties who joined the Americans for qualification — Salt Lake City Stars wing Taylor Braun — also put pen to paper on a new contract. However, Braun is headed to Europe.

With the Stars’ season on the books (they closed it out against the aforementioned Bighorns last week), the 6-foot-7 sharpshooter will join the Italian team Victoria Libertas. The Pesaro-based club has just seven games left before their own season comes to a close.

Braun played in 45 games with Salt Lake this season, putting up 10 points and more than five boards per contest. Along the way, he knocked down 39 percent of his 3-point shots.
