Donovan Mitchell and Jonas Jerebko are the latest Utah Jazz players to joust with one another via Twitter.

Although the Utah Jazz are set to take on the Atlanta Hawks with the chance to extend their current win streak to 10 games, Monday was something of a slow news day in Jazzland. Thankfully, Jazz Twitter was there to fill the void.

As they’re wont to do, a couple of Jazz players used the platform to exchange digs to great comedic effect. This time it was Donovan Mitchell and Jonas Jerebko who went toe-to-toe, with subtle jab from Joe Ingles thrown in for kicks.

This particular chain started out innocent enough; Mitchell fired off a twitpic of himself in the hills overlooking the Salt Lake Valley. In doing so, he showed some love for the city in which he plays —

Side note: it’s stuff like this that has really endeared Mitchell to Jazz fans. In his first year on the job, he’s done something that took Gordon Hayward six or seven years to do — achieved cult hero status.

At any rate, Jerebko chimed in with a tweet about this being his neighborhood and the game was afoot. Mitchell claimed to have rang his doorbell, but Jerebko didn’t answer. The big man’s reason: he was grabbing a bite at DM’s favorite eatery (which is apparently Benihana) and the meal was on him.

However, the rookie wasn’t invited —

In the meantime, Ingles had seized the opportunity to call out Jerebko’s big-timer digs. In short order, Mitchell hopped on his comment with an epic and-one —

Despite the fact that this had all suddenly turned around on him, Jerebko was able to finish strong —

Mitchell may be giving Ingles a run for his money as the team’s resident Twitter assassin, but he’s clearly not beyond taking shots himself. Also — Jerebko’s tweet game is on-par with the best.

As ever, the Jazz are clearly having as much fun off the court as they are on it.
