Utah Jazz: Four final rumors in waning moments before trade deadline
‘On to the next’ for Favors?
As most Jazz fans know, Derrick Favors is an absolute menace on Twitter. He often puts out the most cryptic tweets, presumably with the intention of misleading or messing with his fans.
On the eve of the trade deadline, he not only lived up to, but absolutely exceeded his reputation by tweeting the following:
Derrick begins by stating the obvious – it sure was a great road trip, largely due to his play as a matter of fact! The fact that he’s tweeting something so optimistic about the team could lead one to believe that he’s excited about the direction the Jazz are headed and that he’s here to stay.
Then he says ‘on to the next’ which is quite similar to the #ontothenextone that Rudy Gobert frequently uses in his post-game tweets, just like he did last night.
But Favors doesn’t specify on to the next what. On to the next game as a Jazzman? On to the next team that he’ll be joining via trade?
Perhaps this hardly counts as a rumor as it’s anyone’s guess what Favors means by it. Then again, it may mean little more than just wanting to get a rise out of people the night before the highly-anticipated trade deadline. Derrick might know that he’s likely to be moved, that he’s likely to stay or he could very well be just as much in the dark as all of us.
I actually predicted earlier this week that the Jazz would end up holding on to Favors and, quite frankly, when I saw this tweet for the first time, my gut told me it was more of a sign of him staying with the squad than leaving. But then again, I could be dead wrong.
Favors may or may not have an idea of what his fate is going to be, but this tweet does little to shed light in any direction. Of course, this is the king of cryptic tweets that we’re talking about, so how could we expect it any other way?

Fortunately, all the rumors are about to be validated or debunked and we’ll soon all be able to stop guessing. Let’s hope that whatever happens, the Utah Jazz find themselves better off following the deadline than they were before it.
