Cavs targeting Derrick Favors

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the most talked about teams leading up to the deadline as they desperately search for a way to overcome their recent woes. There had been some mentions of them having interest in some Utah Jazz players in the past, but nothing that was overly concrete.

That may have changed recently, though, as on a Yahoo Sports podcast with Chris Mannix, Shams Charania mentioned that although DeAndre Jordan is the Cavs’ principal big man target, Derrick Favors is another player that they have have their eyes on, presumably as a backup plan to DJ.

Derrick Favors has played exceptionally well of late and could very well bolster a Cleveland team that has been particularly bad on defense. Of course, the Cavs would likely have to miss out on DeAndre before anything came about here and it remains to be seen if Cleveland has exactly what the Jazz would be looking for in an exchange for Favors.

Nevertheless, Cleveland is certainly desperate to right the ship, so if Utah can squeeze a hefty return out of them, they may very well give in to the temptation of sending Favors their way.
