With all the trade rumors swirling at the mid-season mark, I believed Derrick Favors had received his final grade as a member of the Jazz. However, here we are and Favors remains with the team and has continued to play extremely well.

Similar to Rubio, the Jazz simply perform at another level when Favors plays well.

Favors’ stats in wins: PPG: 14.8 RPG: 8.2 APG: 1.8 FG%: 62

Favors’ stats in losses: PPG: 10.3 RPG: 6.3 APG: 1.1 FG%: 49

Despite being in an integral part of Utah’ success, Favors’ future with the team still remains as unclear as ever. Will the Jazz try to find a way to keep Favors past this season?

I am as big of a Derrick Favors advocate as anyone. However, if Utah doesn’t believe (1) that they can keep him past this season or (2) that he doesn’t fit with their future plans, Dennis Lindsey and Co. need to find a way to get something in return for Favors before the trade deadline passes.

If Utah is set on trading Favors, his recent play should give a nice boost to his trade value as February 8 approaches.
