E’Twaun Moore, New Orleans Pelicans
One thing was immediately clear in the wake of DeMarcus Cousins’ devastating Achilles injury — the New Orleans Pelicans have moves to make if they want to hold serve in the playoff race. A move to acquire D-Faves and, perhaps, another complimentary piece from the Jazz could help keep them in the thick of things.
The problem is that they don’t have much in the way of tradeable assets to make something happen. Jrue Holiday is a player the Jazz would have liked a few years ago, but his contract is bonkers and NOLA probably isn’t looking to move him. For me, that leaves E’Twaun Moore.
Moore is having a career season (13 PPG) and has emerged as one of the Association’s better 3-point shooters at 43 percent. He’s starting for the Pels, but you can envision him being a really nice bench piece for the Jazz.
I would probably have an easier time paying him just over $8.5 mil a year through 2020 than I do paying $11.5 mil for Burks next season. Still, it’s hard to see a deal I really like here.
