The Utah Jazz will aim to bounce back from a tough loss in Atlanta as they visit the Detroit Pistons in their second game of a three-game Eastern Conference road trip.

Let’s be honest, it was hard to be a Utah Jazz fan on Monday night. That’s not to say that we aren’t proud of our team and won’t stand behind them through thick and thin, but let’s just be real, this team is far more talented than they appeared in Monday’s loss to a dismal Atlanta Hawks team.

But you wouldn’t have known it from just watching that game. Utah was handed an embarrassing 104-90 loss in yet another missed opportunity to win consecutive games.

As my J-Notes colleague Ryan Aston put it, Monday was an example of the lows just getting lower…

Still, with nearly half the season still left, the Jazz have plenty to prove and plenty of time to prove it. They won’t have any time at all to sit back and lick their wounds as they’ll be immediately thrust back into action Wednesday night for the second game of their current three-game road trip where they’ll take on the Detroit Pistons.

It’s been tough sledding for the Pistons lately as they’re currently riding a five-game losing streak that has caused them to drop below .500 (22-23) and out of the playoff mix in the Eastern Conference. In other words, Wednesday’s contest will be a battle of two teams who have fallen on bad times looking to reverse their fates.

Unfortunately, considering that the Jazz hold an abysmal 5-19 record on the road this season and are coming off a loss to one of the worst teams in the NBA, their chances even against a struggling Detroit team are probably less than favorable. Nevertheless, they’ve had their share of surprising victories this season and that could very well happen once again in their upcoming bout. If it is to be so, they’ll have to overachieve in these upcoming key areas.
