Jazz exchange Hood for his former teammate Jabari Parker

The following pair of ideas were suggested on Twitter by Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey and certainly deserve consideration. The first one which I’ll address here would allow the Jazz to exchange Rodney Hood for his former teammate Jabari Parker. Of course, a simple exchange would never do the trick by itself, so there would have to be other parts involved.

Andy Bailey suggests the Jazz ship Favors, Hood and a pick for Jabari Parker and Mirza Teletovic, whose contract (two years, $21 million), the Bucks may be very willing to shed. This would give the Bucks a young and dynamic wing in Hood, help at the center position, which they desperately need, in Derrick Favors and a pick. They’d also part with Teletovic whose contract has been nothing but dead weight for them this season.

That may seem like they’re receiving a lot for one player, but Jabari Parker is certainly a valuable piece.

In return, Parker would be an extremely intriguing stretch-four option for the Jazz. Heralded as a potential star, Parker certainly has a higher upside than a guy like Nikola Mirotic, however, given his injury history, he also comes with greater risk. He is just one year removed from averaging 20.1 points per game, a scoring punch Utah could certainly use, so if he can stay healthy and his injury woes scare off others extending offers in restricted free agency, the Jazz could find themselves with a star at an incredible rate.

There’s a lot of risk involved and I’m not so sure the Bucks will be willing to give up on Parker just yet, but it’s an option that has to be considered. Milwaukee may find themselves financially stretched in the not so distant future, so it’s not outside of the realm of possibilities that they’d deal Jabari now instead of not being able to afford him or others later.
