Utah Jazz: Five potential trade options involving Rodney Hood
With Utah Jazz guard Rodney Hood on the trade block, there are a number of prospective trade options the team could look to pursue.
Leading up to the NBA trade deadline, a few names have been pretty common knowledge among Utah Jazz fans as ones that the team was likely to move. This included the likes of Derrick Favors and Joe Johnson. Both are on expiring contracts and likely to leave in free agency anyway, so rather than lose out on them, the Jazz would be wise to deal them to get something in return rather than just let them walk for nothing.
Not only that, but in the case of Derrick Favors, his redundancy with Rudy Gobert means it wouldn’t make much sense for the Jazz to extend him a hefty contract anyhow. Therefore, seeing rumors and trade speculation regarding those two has been little surprise. However, just days ago, a report regarding another player emerged that likely caught many Jazz fans off guard.
In essence, the team is not only open to trading wing Rodney Hood, but reportedly openly shopping him and drawing significant interest.
There’s likely a lot of reasons behind closed doors why this would be the case. Perhaps the Jazz don’t want to fork over the necessary cash to keep Hood in the offseason. Maybe they’re not convinced based on what they’ve seen out of Hood that he’s a fitting piece in their long-term plan. Or there may very well be a chance that Hood let the Jazz organization know that he preferred to be traded and the combination of that with other factors has pushed them to look to deal him.
Whatever the case, Tony Jones of The Salt Lake Tribune made it pretty clear that Hood likely won’t be finishing out the year in a Jazz uniform and instead will be dealt. With that being the case, I wanted to take a look at five potential trade possibilities involving Rodney Hood and evaluate their likelihood as well as what they could mean for the Utah Jazz.
