SG/SF. Utah Jazz. JOE INGLES. B -.

Overall GPA: 2.93 (B)

A lot can be said for having a “glue guy” on your roster that helps team chemistry, however, at some point, you have to produce on the floor. Especially when you just got paid 52 million dollars this past offseason.

I have long held off on dropping Joe Ingles’ grade, however, after logging just one ten-plus point game in Utah’s last ten outings, the time has finally come.

Joe’s ability and desire to get teammates involved is one of his greatest strengths, however, more often than not he seems to be sacrificing open looks in favor of dishing the ball. During this ten-game stretch, Ingles is averaging just less than two three-point makes per game on under six attempts.

HIs willingness to defend, scrappy play and surprising ability to get to the rim keep him in the “B” range, however, it is impossible to give him anything higher than a B-minus until he can at least close in on meeting his expectations from beyond the arc.

I know this is not going to be a popular opinion among the majority of Jazz nation, but Ingles simply needs to do better.

I have been as big of an Ingles fan as you’ll find due to his scrappy play and willingness to defend, however, Utah paid Joe to be a knockdown, floor-spacing shooter.

While I fully expect him to up his scoring as he realizes his team’s need for consistent success from beyond the arc, Ingles’ grade takes a minor hit this time around.
