The Utah Jazz released a must-see video on Tuesday teasing the soon to be released “City” Uniforms which are set to be unveiled on December 27th.

Coming into the season, one of the most exciting aspects of 2017-18 for the Utah Jazz outside of the game of basketball itself was the release of the new Nike jerseys. The Icon and Association uniforms were both pretty traditional and very well-received among Jazz fans, whereas the gold Statement jerseys were met with a little bit more of a mixed reaction. The Jazz have worn them quite a bit, though, so I take it they’re rubbing off on the players and fans alike.

However, the City uniforms have perhaps been met with the most anticipation of all. It had been rumored for quite some time that they would feature a gold/orange gradient theme and those reports were furthered when jersey estimates from Conrad Burry seemed to confirm the sentiment.

You can check out those “leaked” jerseys below:

A recent screenshot from NBA2K, again courtesy of Conrad Burry, seemed to show yet another, although slightly different, look at the new jerseys:

There are also New Era hats being sold at Lids that further match up with the aforementioned color scheme:

Now, as if we needed any further proof, the Utah Jazz have solidified the sentiment, even though the uniforms have yet to be officially released. On Tuesday, the Utah Jazz released this awesome video further teasing the new “City” jerseys and what Jazz fans can expect for them.

The video itself is awesome, especially where it describes the Jazz not just representing a single city, but rather the state as a whole, and quite frankly, I like the idea they’re going after, taking the beauty of Utah’s red rocks and canyon lands and turning them into a jersey. However, based on the hats and other leaks we’ve seen so far, I’m not huge on the colors.

Red/Orange just doesn’t seem to jive with the typical Utah Jazz style. I’m all for taking risks, mixing things up and going for new looks, but not a big fan of just tossing tradition to the wayside. In my mind, the gold jerseys were the risky but still appropriate ones. But from the initial looks at the new “City” jerseys, they appear to indeed be tossing tradition to the side as I mentioned.

But before I dismiss them entirely, I’ll wait and see them once they’re officially released. The video above states that the Nike City Edition is coming on 12/27, which ironically is the same day that the Jazz will take on the Golden State Warriors in Oracle Arena, so it will be interesting to see if Utah actually sports the new jerseys for the first time on the road or if they’ll simply be revealed that day.

Regardless of how they look and how they’re unveiled, the video above is an awesome tribute to Utah Jazz fans and the state of Utah as a whole. It’s almost impossible to watch it and not feel proud to be a Jazz fan.

But as cool as the jerseys may or may not be, the Jazz have more pressing matters to worry about. They’re in the midst of losing six of their last seven games, still have several tough contests to wrap up December and are once again overrun with injuries. Hopefully they can get things turned around soon or else the jersey release may be one of the few things fans have to look forward to.
