Utah Jazz report card: Updated grades for each Jazz-man at the 30-game mark
By Tyler Thorpe
Overall GPA: 3.00 (B)
Rudy Gobert has quickly found himself at the center of debates around Utah’s lineup debate.
There is absolutely ZERO question as to the impact that Gobert has, especially on the defensive end. Utah has, however, seemed to be much more effective offensively without their star center.
While I still don’t feel ready to open the discussion about Rudy’s future with the Jazz, there is no doubt that the Jazz have been able to space the floor much more when Gobert is sidelined.
After missing 11 straight games due to a knee injury, Gobert only started and finished five of Utah’s last ten games before injuring his other knee against Boston. Four of those five games ended in a Jazz loss.
I still feel like it is a bit too early to draw any connections between Gobert’s presence and Utah’s success (or lack thereof), but Gobert’s lack of recent availability and uncharacteristic play when he has been in drops his grade a few points.
Here’s to hoping Gobert will return to form after he returns from his second injury of the season. Dilly dilly!
