Rudy Gobert – Chewbacca

Maybe it’s because he’s extremely tall. Maybe it’s because he speaks a different native language than the rest of his teammates. Or maybe it’s because he’s fiercely loyal to the Utah Jazz in a way that few others across the galaxy can match.

Or maybe it’s because when he loses, he, like Chewbacca and his fellow wookies, is known to pull opponents’ arms out of their sockets. Yeah, there’s a kernel of truth in everything I’ve mentioned so far, but I’m going to go with that one.

Honestly though, Rudy’s ridiculous defensive strength can only be compared to that of Chewbacca. And just like Chewie will stop at nothing to protect Han Solo and his other friends, Rudy will stop at nothing to protect the rim and make sure he has his teammates’ backs. Not only that, but Chewbacca can be known for his fiery and stubborn attitude and based on Rudy’s awesome statements on Twitter and his demeanor on the court, I’d say that’s a pretty striking similarity.

All I know is that if I were going into battle on Kashyyyk I’d definitely not want Chewbacca to be a member of the opposition, just like I’d never want to face off on the hardwood against Rudy Gobert.
