Utah Jazz: Assigning a Star Wars character to each Jazzman

Ekpe Udoh – Chirrut Imwe

Ekpe Udoh is a pretty distinct person. He’s certainly an intellectual and philosophical kind of guy, so what better Star Wars comparison than Chirrut Imwe, or as some fans might know him better, the blind guy from Rogue One. Chirrut is full of profound knowledge and advice and provides a level head, great perspective and calm demeanor for his allies.

Udoh certainly is similar personality-wise so in that regard the comparison is clear, but Chirrut is also secretly a total stud. Don’t let his blindness fool you, his mild connection to the force makes him an absolute force to be reckoned with when given the chance. Just ask the Stormtroopers he easily beats up on with what looks like little more than a fancy stick.

And just like Chirrut’s blindness shouldn’t be confused with weakness, neither should Udoh’s brief stint overseas. Sure, he struggled somewhat in the NBA during his first go, but after excelling in the Euroleague, he’s come back over as an effective defensive force and formidable NBA rim protector for the Utah Jazz.

Off the court, Chirrut Udoh is a deep intellectual, but on the court or on the battlefield, he will make you pay for underestimating him.
