Key #3 – Keep up the confidence from Saturday

No matter how good or bad a team is in the NBA, the fact of the matter is sometimes things just aren’t going to go a team’s way and other times everything will just come together. In Utah’s big win on Saturday over the Orlando Magic, the latter was certainly the case. The Jazz converted on 41.2 percent of their three-point attempts and benefited from some incredibly hot hands during the contest as Rodney Hood went 7-of-13 (.538) from deep, Donovan Mitchell went 3-of-4 (.750) and Joe Ingles went 2-of-4 (.500).

Yes, it’s a make or miss league and sometimes shots fall and other times they don’t, but aside from the fact that Utah was able to run away with victory thanks to their hot shooting, they also seemed to play with a swagger and confidence that was contagious throughout the team and drove them to success on both ends of the floor. Not only were the Jazz shooting well, but they were flying around defending with intensity and completely shutting down a good three-point shooting Orlando Magic team.

That same level of confidence and intensity will absolutely have to carry over to every game the Jazz play if they hope to turn their season around, beginning with the game against Philadelphia tonight. There was something special about the way Utah played on Saturday as they made the right decisions, played with extreme belief in themselves and refused to back down whatsoever.

Every member of the team was clearly enjoying himself on the court and the fun they were having translated into solid play. If Utah can take that same mentality and mindset and apply it to this final road game of the four-game stretch, they may very well be able to close it out on a high note with a W over a rapidly improving Sixers team.
