Prediction – Jazz 111, Nets 100

Although the Utah Jazz lost a discouraging one on Wednesday, at least it can be said that they fought and showed some great signs of life – significantly more so than they did in their previous five losses. Hopefully some of the nice plays in the game against the Knicks were a sign that this Utah team is rapidly improving and will be able to click with one another here soon.

Even if such is the case, I don’t expect them to be anywhere close to having all of their wrinkles ironed out by Friday. Nevertheless, even without a perfect performance, the Jazz should simply be able to overpower the Nets with sheer talent. Simply put, Utah is more skilled than a D’Angelo Russell-less Brooklyn team and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to come out on top.

Therefore, just as I projected in my week preview piece for the Jazz’s fifth week of NBA action, I’m going to select the Jazz to come out on top as 11-point winners in this contest.

From here, the Jazz will continue their daunting four-game road trip against the likes of the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers, two young teams that have looked exceptional so far on this young season. Winning either of those is going to be extremely difficult which means it will be all the more important that Utah take care of business and capitalize against a weak Brooklyn Nets team to earn a desperately needed victory.
