6) Golden State Warriors (4-3)
Last month: 1
Woof — that start tho. When the Golden State Warriors opened the season with two losses in three tries, it felt like Rod Serling-level weirdness. Stephen Curry’s crew looked to have righted the ship shortly thereafter with three straight wins, two of which came against Eastern Conference playoff teams.
But then they went and lost to the Detroit Pistons at home. The Twilight Zone is remains in effect for the defending champions.
Golden State is still putting up points, dropping a league-leading 118 per contest. However, their defense and rebounding have trailed off considerably. Steve Kerr’s team is allowing 108.4 points/100 poss. And their defensive rebounding percentage (72.9) is one of the worst marks in the NBA. In turn, the Warriors are giving up 16 second-chance points a night.
