(5) Damian Lillard (PG, Portland Trail Blazers)
Enter the pride of Ogden, Utah. After a slow start to the 2016-17 season, Damian Lillard improved his scoring average from 25 to 27 points per game. As a matter of fact, Lillard has improved his scoring average in each of his first five seasons in the league.
While Lillard may have fallen short of his own lofty goal of winning NBA MVP last season, he looks primed to be in the thick of the MVP conversation this year.
His chemistry with Jusuf Nurkic only seemed to improve as the season went on. Look for that chemistry lead to an increased win total and a return to the All-Star Game for Lillard following a two-year absence.
