4) Karl Malone’s First All-Star Game

Over the course of “The Mailman” Karl Malone’s storied career, the power forward was selected to play in a whopping 14 All-Star Games. During his third professional season in 1988, Malone’s All-Star legacy would begin in Michael Jordan’s neck of the woods in Chicago.

From the opening tip, Malone established himself as an All-Star force. He led the Western Conference in scoring and rebounding in the game, notching a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double. But, in a preview of things to come, Malone’s team was thwarted in Chi-Town by His Airness.

Jordan dropped 40 points in the game to lead the East to a 138-133 win.

Nevertheless, the Mailman was able to announce himself as the league’s next elite big man with an incredible All-Star debut.
