Breaking down my all-time starting five for the Utah Jazz
By Ryan Aston
Point Guard: John Stockton
I don’t need to sell anyone on this one, but I’ll do it anyway. John Stockton is the NBA’s all-time leader in assists and steals, an All-Star several times over, a multiple-time Olympic gold medalist and, for my money, the greatest pure point guard the Association has ever seen.
In addition to the usual litany of achievements, I’ll add that Stockton connected on nearly 52 percent of his career field goal attempts to boot. For a backcourt player, that’s a feat of Herculean proportions.
He also teamed with Karl Malone to lead the Jazz back-to-back NBA Finals in ’97 and ’98. If not for some guy rocking No. 23 for the Chicago Bulls, he probably has a ring or two right now.
Honorable mention: Deron Williams, Rickey Green
