Utah Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert and Raul Neto have developed quite an off-court friendship and some of their NBA colleagues couldn’t help but poke a little bit of fun at their expense.
Although most of the attention on the NBA offseason has been focused on the destinations of big-name free agents such as Gordon Hayward and trade speculation on even more prominent players such as Paul George, Kyrie Irving and Carmelo Anthony, fans of the Utah Jazz have had at least one more thing to keep tabs on this summer – namely the travels of Jazz teammates and apparent BFFs Rudy Gobert and Raul Neto.
The two teammates initiated a hilarious off-court relationship last year as the Stifle Tower began to refer to the Brazilian point guard as “his son” and things have only escalated from there. This summer, the two have traveled together to each other’s home countries where they have put on camps and participated in a number of other activities with their fans.
Most recently, my J-Notes colleague Ryan Aston highlighted Rudy Gobert stifling some children at Neto’s basketball camp in Rio de Janeiro and that along with everything else makes it seem like those two are having just about the best time two friends could have. For a look at some of their chronicled adventures, look no further than this tweet below from SLC Dunk’s Taylor Griffin who rightfully suggests the duo enjoys the NBA’s best bromance:
Whether their NBA peers agree with that or not remains to be seen, however, a handful of them certainly didn’t waste any time poking some fun at the pair of Jazz teammates for their “summer fling.” On a recent photo posted on Gobert’s Instagram of the two of them in Brazil, Rodney Hood, Memphis’ Chandler Parsons, Orlando’s Evan Fournier and former Jazzmen Trevor Booker and Tibor Pleiss all had some brief but hilarious jabs to take.
You can check them out in the pair of tweets below:
Pretty hilarious stuff for two guys who surely have become fan favorites in Utah. Although Gobert is far and above the bigger star, hopefully Neto can have a solid summer training alongside his close friend and earn some playing time this season, because it would surely be fun to see the dynamic between these two guys continue on the court.

Whether that ends up being the case or not, I must say I have to agree with the aforementioned sentiment from Taylor Griffin. Rudy Gobert and Raul Neto – or as my wife refers to them, the Jazz Bert (get it?) and Nothin’ but Neto – most certainly have the best bromance in the NBA.
And I can’t wait to see what kind of adventures, both on and off the court, the two of them go on next.
