Dante Exum’s Revenge Campaign Begins

OK, so maybe my headline is a bit dramatic, but I have a feeling that Dante Exum has an enormous chip on his shoulder and is going to look to prove himself from the get-go. Exum had spotty playing time at best this past season, often finding himself on the bench behind the likes of Shelvin Mack and at times Raul Neto, so it would stand to reason that he’d be out for revenge.

This offseason, Dennis Lindsey and Quin Snyder have reportedly challenged him to elevate his game to a new level and although he has plenty of time this summer to continue to rise to that challenge and prove what he’s capable of, Summer League should be an excellent start.

Exum will only play in the Utah Jazz Summer League, not in Vegas, so he’ll have a small window to show fans what he’s been working on so far this offseason. But given the fact that he’ll have more NBA experience than the majority of his opponents, he ought to be able to put up a show. And given how stifled Exum seemed to be last season, that kind of show is exactly what Jazz fans are hoping and expecting of him.

For fans to feel confident that he is going to take the leap this season and truly become a significant contributor for the Jazz, he’ll have to kick things off with an impressive performance in the Utah Jazz Summer League’s three-game slate. And seeing what comes of that is in and of itself reason enough for Jazz fans to want to tune in.
