Top Picks Make Debut

Although most Jazz fans will be looking forward to seeing Utah’s newly acquired draft picks and Jazz hopefuls, there’s still no denying that one part of the excitement of Summer League is getting to see some of the highest touted NBA newcomers make their league debut. It just so happens that this year the Utah Jazz Summer League will feature two of the top three picks in the 2017 NBA Draft – Philly’s Markelle Fultz and Boston’s Jayson Tatum.

Fultz was selected first overall while Tatum went number three. Both are projected to be exceptional NBA talents and getting a first look at what they can do against players of a similar experience level is going to be a thrill.

Not only that, but more specifically seeing how Utah’s promising young guns stack up against two players who are presumed to be among the best in the league will especially be exciting. There’s always a great deal of pressure on top picks and they usually have targets on their backs that cause other players to want to prove they can keep up with them. And I expect Utah’s young draft picks to look to do just that.

Top talent and hotly contested individual battles as a result of it – if that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will.
