Semi Ojeleye – SF/PF

Height: 6’7″, Wingspan: 6’9 3/4″, Weight: 235

Earlier in the month, our very own Ryan Aston did an awesome piece on SMU Junior Semi Ojeleye and his path to becoming a presumed NBA first-rounder. And as fortune would have it, not only did three of our contributors (including myself) have him going to the Jazz in the first round, but several mock drafts around the web including that of Draft Express and CBSSports have him going to the Jazz at number 24 as well.

There’s certainly a lot to like about the versatile prospect with an awesome underdog story. He’s capable of playing both the three and the four and is a capable shooter, converting on 42.4 percent of his three-point attempts last season with SMU. And although he was a bit of a late-bloomer, his athleticism and explosiveness make him without a doubt an intriguing prospect.

He’s a bit older than many other draft prospects at 22-years-old, but his experience has likely prepared him well and he has a shot to be an instant contributor no matter where he lands. Averaging 19 points in 34.1 minutes per game last season, Ojeleye is more than comfortable shouldering a heavy load for a team and could be a valuable weapon for the Jazz off the bench at either forward position.
