The Utah Jazz may have been eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, but Jazz fans still have something to cheer for — an epic fail for the Golden State Warriors.

With the Golden State Warriors already having punched their ticket to the NBA Finals and the Cleveland Cavaliers likely on their way after going up 3-1 on the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, Warriors/Cavs III is just around the corner.

And despite that queasiness that LeBron James brings out of many of you, I’m here to say that you should be pulling for the King and his Cavs to take the title if you’re a fan of the Utah Jazz.

Under normal circumstances, I’m someone who strives for objectivity in my journalistic endeavors. The Jazz-centric nature of what we do here at Purple & Blues notwithstanding, I usually try not to descend too far into the realm of homerism. After all, there are 29 other teams in the league. Maintaining a level of credibility probably requires that I attempt to be fair and balanced about them.

Having said that, I kind of hate the Warriors. And, really, you should too.

Not because they just swept the Jazz out of the NBA Playoffs, although they did that. Not even because of their super-team status with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green forming the most fearsome quartet of this century. They weren’t the first squad to go that route and they won’t be the last.

In fact, there are a multitude of reasons to hope for the Warriors’ failure without even approaching the low-hanging fruit, especially if you’re a Jazz fan.
