Prospects to watch for the Utah Jazz in the 2017 NBA Draft
By Jared Barker
Harry Giles, Duke, C
Harry Giles seems like he could be a decent fit for the Jazz as well. That said, he’s been described as a “volatile prospect,” which usually means there’s a high ceiling, but also a stronger possibility of hitting his projected floor.
Giles tore his ACL in high school and was able to rehab it and play for Duke this year. Sam Vecenie seemed to see a player with a ridiculously high ceiling when he saw him dominate in AAU play prior to the injury. The key to where Giles is drafted seems to be what teams know about his health and how much they’re willing to roll the dice.
If Giles manages to slip to the Jazz it seems like a no-brainer that they should take him. His high ceiling — if he’s able to regain some of the athleticism he displayed in high school — could be a huge help to the team. It seems that he could be worth consideration if the Jazz try to package the two picks together to move up.
Taking Giles may be a considerable risk. Depending on how the offseason plays out it may very well be worth taking that risk.
Get outta here with that… I don’t want any Big Baller Brand garbage on my squad.
