Prospects to watch for the Utah Jazz in the 2017 NBA Draft
By Jared Barker
With the 2017 NBA Draft just one month away, here are a few prospects the Utah Jazz could consider as draft season descends upon us.
Bam Adebayo, Kentucky, PF/C
Bam Adebayo has received some nice press from ESPN; one of the perks of being a Kentucky product. He was also an honor roll student and a McDonald’s All-American.
Here’s another fun fact: he’s a Katy Perry fan. Who can blame him? Her music can be kinda fun, right?
To ESPN writer Myron Medcalf, Adebayo described himself as someone with “a motor, who just doesn’t give up on plays.” He continued, “It’s just always been me. I’ve just never liked giving up on anything. It’s a bunch of us. We got our dogs on the team. Just like, the other dude in front of you, it’s personal. You take everything personal when you’re on the court.”
It sounds like this kid has some real passion for the game and could make a great energy guy, something the Jazz seem to have lacked at times since Trevor Booker departed.
Malik Monk said of Adebayo: “He’s a dog, too. It’s crazy. Having the presence of Bam down there, knowing if you get beat off the dribble, somebody is back there to block it or if you get stuck in the air on offense, you can just throw it up, he’ll catch it.”
While he is the headliner I had for this post, one of the more knowledgeable Fansiders did an excellent analysis of Adebayo, calling him “too limited for the first round.”
Perhaps the Jazz should hope he falls to the second round, eh Chris Reichert?
