Lavoy Allen

This is probably the least sexy addition in terms of basketball skill on this list as Indiana’s Lavoy Allen isn’t exactly a highly touted free agent option. Make no mistake about it, he has plenty to improve on, particularly on the offensive end, but he plays with a certain amount of hustle and energy that could still allow him to blossom into a formidable role player.

He’s already an absolutely exceptional rebounder and a good defender, and given his relative anonymity across the league, the Jazz could very well add him for relatively cheap. As a guy who could play either the power forward or center position, he could help patch up two areas for the Jazz that were less than formidable, coming off the bench for Rudy Gobert or a hopefully healthy Derrick Favors in certain instances.

He would almost certainly be an upgrade over Jeff Withey despite falling into a similar price range. He’s also a laid back and down to earth guy, so from a locker room standpoint it stands to reason that he would be a nice fit.

Adding Allen most definitely isn’t going to make Utah dramatically better, but once again he could be a nice piece for the second unit or to patch up holes in the case of injuries next season.
