Patty Mills

Beyond the fact that Patty Mills could join the Jazz roster as the third Aussie alongside Joe Ingles and Dante Exum, the veteran point guard would likely be an awesome fit. Not only would he be an ideal mentor to the young Exum, but he’s proven with the San Antonio Spurs, especially in the absences of Tony Parker, that he’s able to lead a team at the point.

Furthermore, Mills has shot right around 40 percent from three all throughout his career and that instant offense would be a nice bonus for the Jazz. That isn’t all he can do, though, as he’s also proven to be a pesky and reliable defender.

Mills is on an extremely friendly contract worth just over $3 million right now. Although he’ll likely command a significant pay raise next year no matter where he ends up, that figure bodes well for his willingness to play for a contending team at somewhat of a discount.

Not to mention, although the Spurs would likely want to retain him, San Antonio may also look to make a big push to replace the aging Tony Parker with a solid point guard such as Kyle Lowry, Chris Paul or even former Spur George Hill. That combined with the quick improvement of the young Dejounte Murray could result in Mills becoming the odd man out.

And if such ends up being the case, the possibility to play alongside fellow Aussie teammates on a team that would provide an excellent basketball opportunity for him, could very well be enough for the Jazz to lure him into their ranks.
