Utah Jazz: Northwest Division Comparison – March
Denver Nuggets
Current Record: 28-33
Standings: 3rd in Division, 8th in Conference
Without a doubt the high point of the month of February for the Denver Nuggets was their incredible win over the Golden State Warriors despite the fact that Denver was coming in extremely shorthanded. The Nuggets connected on what was then a tie for the most three-pointers in an NBA game (Cleveland bested that record last night by converting on 25 shots from deep) to roll to a victory over the NBA’s best.
However, the Nuggets also suffered losses during that span to the likes of the Kings and Timberwolves, so they have yet to find a way to bring it consistently night in and night out.
Still, Denver went 6-7 in the month of February, which despite not being all that great, was still good enough to keep them solidly ahead of the two teams below them in the division. The Nuggets have a lighter stretch to start out the month of March, but then things get pretty difficult near the end of the month.
Given the fact that Portland has an easier schedule, Denver is going to have to pull off some more big wins such as the one over Golden State if they hope to stay in front of them in the Northwest Division. However, given the rise of big man Nikola Jokic and the solid play of the rest of the Nuggets supporting cast, I’m feeling relatively confident that they’ll be able to maintain their spot.
