Indiana Pacers – Lavoy Allen

Despite Indiana’s constant assertion that they have no intention of moving Paul George, perhaps it is something they should look into. They’ve had one of the most disappointing seasons in the Eastern Conference this year given the talent they possess and George hasn’t been shy to comment on the poor state of the team.

Considering his apparent negativity, perhaps Indiana would be wise to move him to a team such as the Celtics who appear to be extremely interested in him, rather than lose him for nothing once his contract expires at the end of next season. The Pacers still have a lot of time to figure that out, though, so I’d believe it when they say he’s untouchable this season.

Instead, I’d prefer the Jazz to go after a much more realistic target in power forward/center Lavoy Allen. Allen is an extremely under the radar player and while his career stats are far from dazzling, he’s been solid in several occasions when given the opportunity.

He recently posted an 18-point, 11-rebound night against the Detroit Pistons as a replacement for injured Pacers starter Thaddeus Young and has had similar performances throughout his career.

His mid-range game is inconsistent and he severely needs to work on his finishing around the rim, but he’s an elite rebounder and plays with a lot of heart and hustle and is solid defensively. He also has the speed and size to play both the center and power forward positions which would add some nice versatility.

If the Jazz want someone who can add those things and provide some spark off the bench, Lavoy Allen could be a nice and affordable fit.

Honorable Mention – Paul George
