Detroit Pistons – Reggie Jackson

Although Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy was quick to shut down previous rumors of a Reggie Jackson and Ricky Rubio trade, he has yet to silence the recently revamped rumors that the Pistons are indeed willing to trade their starting point guard. Most recently, he has been mentioned in a potential deal with the Orlando Magic for D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green.

There’s no questioning that Jackson is a solid player as he’s putting up 15.2 points and 5.6 assists this season. He’s a quick guard and a tough cover and could prove to be very valuable for the Jazz.

Trading for Jackson is actually a possibility that I have explored in the past and while I think he could be a phenomenal addition for the Jazz, my main concern is how he would fare coming off the bench. In my mind there’s no question that George Hill would still be the starter over Jackson, but I’m not sure how that would go over with Reggie given that he left OKC largely to land a starting gig.

Nevertheless, he’s talented enough and the Jazz still have enough of a lingering point guard issue, that it would be worth their time to look into acquiring his talents.

Aside from Jackson, the Pistons player who has shown up the most in trade rumors has been Aron Baynes. He has some work to do before he’s a true force at the power forward position, but he does have potential to be solid if put in the right situation.
