Ricky Rubio

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been considered likely to make a trade since the early part of the season and the name that has come up the most frequently has been Ricky Rubio.

Rubio isn’t an astounding scorer or shooter, but some things that he can do well are pass the ball, create easy shots for his teammates and run an offense. Although it would be nice for the Jazz to have a more reliable scoring point guard in their second unit, someone like Rubio who can at least bring some continuity and flow off the bench could potentially be a good fit as well.

Dante Exum has struggled to find his groove for the most part, so a flashy passer and solid teammate like Rubio could pay large dividends if Utah hopes to improve at the backup point guard spot.

However, along with not being much of a scoring threat, Rubio has struggled with injuries throughout his career and that’s about the last thing the Jazz need at this point. So while I wouldn’t be opposed to the Jazz considering and potentially adding Rubio, I’m not sure how great of an impact it would actually have in the long run.

Verdict: Yellow Light
