Rodney Hood

Rodney Hood has undoubtedly been affected by some things beyond his control. His hamstring limited him at times and he had an illness that was so bad at one point that he lost 10 pounds in just one week’s time. However, he’s also just under-performed through extended stretches of the season.

After crushing it in November (to the tune of 16.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game), he’s averaged 11.5 and 12.8 PPG in December and January. Again, some of that is health, but some of it has to be on him. His shooting has also been off, aside from an uptick in his last three games.

Unfortunately, he’s now out with a knee injury just as it seemed like he was beginning to come around.

Expectations were high for Hood coming into the season. 40-plus games in, he’s been more or less the same inconsistent player he was in the past. He’s averaging 14 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor and 36 percent from three-point range for the year; a line that is eerily similar to last season.

Not quite the leap we were looking for as a third-year player.
