Midseason Grades For Every Utah Jazz Player
By Ryan Aston
Shelvin Mack
Brace yourselves; it’s the Mack Attack! The player who was hailed as a hero last season when he emerged from the ether to become the team’s starting point guard. After riding the bench with the Atlanta Hawks, he put up a 13-5-4 line over his final 28 games with the Jazz and nearly helped the team secure a playoff berth.
Now, he’s the guy that Jazz Twitter (and myself) incessantly complains about. Even when he doesn’t deserve it. So, will the real Shelvin Mack please stand up?
On the whole, Mack has been alright this season. He’s averaging a cool 8.1 points and three assists per game and has largely been the first point guard off the bench for the team. However, he’s struggled recently and has been giving away some of his minutes behind Hill in the Jazz backcourt.
In the end, he’s a player that’s never as bad as people make him out to be, but rarely as good as we’d like him to be.
