Hawks fans: Check out what happens when you use....#TrueToAtlanta pic.twitter.com/7fippAiEkY

Atlanta Hawks: #TruetoAtlanta
The Atlanta Hawks stuck with their slogan “True to Atlanta” along with their primary logo as the emoji. It’s a solid hashtag and the logo’s fine, but not a whole lot of creativity here, so I’m going to have to go with a grade that reflects just that.

Can't wait for the season to start? Use #Celtics to unlock our new Twitter emoji & share your excitement!
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) October 24, 2016
Boston Celtics: #Celtics
Whoever was in charge of this hashtag must not have had their creative Wheaties for breakfast. Or maybe Boston was too busy adding Al Horford and sliding their way up the power rankings this summer and didn’t submit their new hashtag idea on time. I do like the emoji that goes with it, but a blah hashtag like #Celtics gives the C’s just that, a C.

It's all about that #BrooklynGrit

Let them know who you rep, Nets Nation!https://t.co/C0NS7f8WTw
Brooklyn Nets: #BrooklynGrit
This one might actually be alright…if there was actually some grit to be found in Brooklyn…but when you’re looking at what will likely be an under 20-win season, I’m not quite sure how accurate this is. If they’re referring to the grit it requires for fans to stay loyal to Brooklyn, then OK, yeah, I definitely agree there. All jokes aside, I kind of like the sound of it, but the emoji itself is boring and it doesn’t really fit the team.

That feeling when you tweet with the hashtag #BuzzCity pic.twitter.com/aTh5TaUwWR
— Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) October 24, 2016
Charlotte Hornets: #BuzzCity
With the Hornets’ return to Charlotte, this instantly became one of the coolest hashtags in the league. Add a cool hornet emoji next to it and it instantly becomes even cooler. While I have a hard time believing Charlotte will actually live up to the “buzz” this year, they still get high marks in my book.

Chicago Bulls: #BullsNation
The whole adding nation after your name isn’t quite as cool as it used to be, but I still like it. Nothing overly exciting about this one, but nothing wrong with letting a classic stay as is.

Show us you’re ready to #DefendTheLand! https://t.co/xa8hWMcgEC
Cleveland Cavaliers: #DefendTheLand
Referring to Cleve-“land” as “The Land” is pretty cool. Using your hashtag as a call to defend that land and the reigning championship, even cooler. The actual emoji isn’t my favorite, which is the only thing that prevented the Cavs from earning a perfect A+.
