5) A (Potential) Jazz All-Star

I don’t think anyone would argue that the Jazz aren’t a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. They have the potential to be one of the better squads in the league this season, but if they’re going to get there, they’ll do so as a unit.

Nevertheless, some of those parts have been pretty darn good for a few years now. Namely Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert. Some would even say that they’ve been performing at or near All-Star level.

Of course, one of the downfalls of being a non-playoff squad is that your players rarely find themselves in consideration for things like All-Star selections. However, with added firepower on the roster this season, the Jazz should be a winning team when Western Conference coaches cast their ballots for All-Star reserves this year.

With Hayward and Favors both being cited as Top 30 NBA players by Sports Illustrated (and Gobert knocking on the door), the team actually being competitive could be the thing that finally gets a Jazzman back in the mid-season classic.
