Ranking the Top Five Centers in Utah Jazz History
By Ryan Aston
1) Mark Eaton
In my humble opinion, Mark Eaton is one of the most underrated talents in the history of the game. Had Eaton enjoyed the same kind of playing career on a team that won the NBA championship, he’s probably a surefire Hall of Famer.
Nevertheless, the big man was one of the most intimidating defenders ever to play in the NBA.
His career mark of 3.5 blocked shots per game ranks No. 1 on the NBA’s all-time list. He was twice named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, earned All-Defensive Team honors on five separate occasions and made the All-Star team in 1989.
Not too shabby for someone who was discovered under the hood of a car as a 21-year-old.
