Ranking the Top Five Centers in Utah Jazz History
By Ryan Aston
2) Mehmet Okur
Mehmet Okur was one of the best shooting big men in the league and an integral component of the team’s success during the mid-to-late 2000s. Together with Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer, the “Money Man” helped carry the Jazz to heights not seen since the good ol’ days of Stockton-to-Malone.
Throughout his tenure with the Jazz, he was one of the game’s elite offensive players from the frontcourt and boasted an impressive resume of clutch moments befitting his Money nickname. His play was recognized with an All-Star selection in 2007.
In retirement, Okur serves as a spokesman, team ambassador and special consultant for the Jazz. Just last week, he was snapped working with Derrick Favors on his jump shot.
Utah Jazz Stats: 474 GP, 15.3 points, 38.1 percent from three, 7.6 rebounds and no retired jersey (what?).
