3. Jaylen Brown – Boston Celtics

Drafted: 3rd pick in 2016 Draft

Last season stats: 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists per game on 43% shooting at the University of California

Everyone knew that Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram were going to go first and second to the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers respectively, but no one knew what the Boston Celtics were going to do with the third pick in the draft. There were a lot of rumors about them trading the pick, but they kept it and drafted Jaylen Brown.

The pick was initially a little shocking, but Brown can definitely play at the NBA level and he immediately fills a need for the Celtics. Evan Turner is expected to sign a 4 year, $70 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, leaving the Celtics looking to replace him. The 6’7″ Brown will be able to step in immediately and be the backup for Jae Crowder.

Brown occasionally settles for jumpers and he doesn’t shoot the ball well from three-point range. But Brown is very explosive and is always looking to throw down a highlight reel dunk. He’ll get a couple of “Top 10” dunks during the summer league and that alone is a good reason to watch him play.
