It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than four years since Linsanity hit the Big Apple. While it now seems a distant memory, Lin has continued to carve out a nice NBA career for himself. He’s bounced around the league since his 2012 breakout, but is currently making hay with the Charlotte Hornets.

During the regular season, he averaged nearly 12 points, three rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes per game, mostly serving as a scoring threat off the bench. For his efforts, he finished seventh in the voting for the league’s sixth man award.

Defense has always been something of a concern with Lin, but he does have good size at six-foot-three and 200 pounds. He’s also shown the ability to be at least a passable defender in Steve Clifford’s system. Of the Hornets’ most-used five-man lineup combinations, the top three in defensive rating all include Lin.

Weird, right?

Lin may elect to remain with the Hornets; good things are finally happening in Charlotte. If Lin does hit the open market, the question that must be asked–as is the case with all the guards on this list–is he better than Shelvin Mack?
