Coach of the Year
Tyson Newman: David Blatt. They should have the most wins in the regular season simply because they play in the Eastern Conference.
Karthik Narayanan: David Blatt. They should be winning a lot of games this season.
Greg Foster: Doc Rivers. The Clippers are DEEP after adding Josh Smith, Paul Pierce and Lance Stephenson. Like deep enough to contend with the Spurs, Warriors and Thunder. Because of that, I think this is the year that the Clips make a serious jump into the top echelon NBA teams. Also, Doc has a very proven track when he has a super-talented, deep team.
Richard Lu: Alvin Gentry. He is an exceptional coach that is sure to help the Pelicans evolve into an elite team and has the roster to do it.
Ryan Aston: Quin Snyder. He only got token mentions in the COY discussion last season, but if he can push the Jazz to a winning record and a playoff berth this year with a roster that many still feel doesn’t have an All-Star player, his name could shoot to the top of the list for this award.
Blake Draper: David Blatt. The second-year coach won’t allow LeBron to walk all over him as much as last season. With a year of NBA experience under his belt and a healthy roster, Coach Blatt will lead the Cavs to great success and a COY award.
