Jazz Rookie of the Year
Tyson Newman: Raul Neto. I wanted to say Lyles because he’s so skilled, but Neto is going to get the minutes this year, so I’ll go with the point guard.
Karthik Narayanan: Raul Neto.
Greg Foster: Trey Lyles. He won’t play the most minutes, but I’ll be damned if he doesn’t turn the most heads. Lyles proved to me in the preseason that he has a rare skill set and a Sears Tower type ceiling. I think the Jazz drafted a special talent, who after some experience at the NBA level, will be a very solid player for several years.
Richard Lu: It’s got to be Trey Lyles. He has a plethora of skills, and he’ll have to step up in case of an injury. Otherwise, he’s not going to be getting much time, but he’ll definitely impress in the moments he gets to display his abilities
Ryan Aston: Raul Neto. There’s a real likelihood that the Brazilian starts games for the Jazz this season. Lyles may exhibit more potential with his unique combination of size and skill, but Neto will receive the most opportunity to show his stuff.
Blake Draper: Trey Lyles. While Raul Neto is feisty and Tibor Pleiss has a fantastic shooting touch, Trey Lyles is the most talented of the Jazz rookies. Over the course of the season, he’ll be the best rookie on the team and it won’t be close.
