5) Los Angeles Clippers: They have upgraded their bench, which was seemingly non-existent at times last year. If the traditionally inefficient players they acquired can be reined in, Chris Paul and co. are out of excuses this season.

6) Memphis Grizzlies: Their window is closing pretty fast. Brandan Wright is an underrated addition. If they can spread the floor and Matt Barnes can make the threes consistently, then they are going to grind down a lot of foes.

7) Houston Rockets: James Harden is going to be an MVP candidate again. Dwight Howard needs to prove that he is still a top-tier center in the league.

8) Atlanta Hawks: DeMarre Carroll’s departure will hurt a bit, but they are getting Thabo Sefolosha back and have the athletic Kent Bazemore to start in Carroll’s place. Tiago Splitter is also an upgrade as Al Horford’s backup.
